    My Top 3 Influences of 2012

    Hey everyone so 2012 is almost over and I can’t believe how fast the year has flown by! It has honestly been an incredible, life changing year for me. I have  made some huge changes in my life that have allowed me to find some true happiness throughout the year. While most of the changes have been fitness related some of the bigger ones include reading more books that have allowed me to to enhance my personal development and learn a lot about myself as a person.     P90X P90X2 Insanity Hybrid

    P90X P90X2 Insanity HybridLast week I gave an update on my fitness journey and said that until the end of the year I would be doing a combination of P90X, P90X2, and Insanity AKA the P90X P90X2 Insanity Hybrid. The reason I am choosing this is because I want to finish off the year with some variability and also want to bulk up for my big 1 year transformation! I figure having some old school lifting with P90X and some new athletic based lifting with P90X2 will give me my best shot. I wanted to include Insanity as well to not over do it on the weights and not have the muscle definition I am looking for. The P90X P90X2 Insanity hybrid schedule below is my own schedule that I made up  for my own personal fitness purposes and I realize it is going to be missing some of the workouts from all three of the programs.     Crossfit – Legit or Bull**it?

    crossfitSo I finally did it. I took the plunge into the Crossfit world (not sure if it is Cross fit or Crossfit, don’t really care lol). As someone from which this website obviously suggests is a home workout enthusiast, I am here to tell you my honest opinion of what I thought of my first experience with Crossfit. My co-worker was nice enough to invite me to “bring a friend day” at Sua Sponte in Raleigh. It is a fairly new Crossfit gym and has only been around for a little over 4 months. I literally had no idea what to expect coming to this place. In my head I imagined a bunch of crazy athletic people that were intense and screamed during every exercise.  I was surprised though when I arrived to find a smaller crowd, which was nice to be honest, of a mix of average to athletic looking people.     My Fitness Journey Update!

    Spartan TrifectaIt has been a long time since I have actually given an update about my fitness journey. I think the last time I actually wrote something about it was when I finished up the first phase of P90X2. Unfortunately I never finished P90X2 from start to finish  (about half way through phase two) because of my date of my big race the Spartan Beast. If you didn’t see how I did you should check it out, I was very proud of my results! With the Spartan Beast being my big goal for the year, I now have my next decision of what goal to work towards. The end of the year is fast approaching and come the first of January I will have officially changed my entire lifestyle for exactly one year.     The Spartan Beast Carolinas 2012

    My Cousin and IThe Spartan Beast was epic! For those of you who didn’t know I have been training all year for this race ever since I did the shorter version of this Spartan Race back in late March.  It has been quite a journey and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when the day actually came. I did know that all I wanted to do was finish! Luckily my cousin  decided to take on this madness with me and made the experience much more fulfilling!     X2 Balance and Power

    X2 Balance and PowerX2 Balance and Power is DONE!!!! I just finished finished day 6 of my P90X2 challenge and have successfully been through all of the workouts for the foundation phase of P90X2.  I was not quite sure what to expect with the X2 Balance and Power workout only because it didn’t refer to any body parts in particular. None the less I was excited to do this workout. I want to wrap up the workouts for the foundation phase of P90X2 and give you a little more details about the X2 Balance and Power workout.     X2 Yoga

    X2 YogaX2 Yoga is FINISHED!!!! I just finished day 5 of my P90X2 challenge and I am super excited to tell you about this workout. So I will go ahead and answer I know you have on your mind and that’s “how is this different then P90X Yoga?”. Well besides a little bit of variations and some different moves it is only 60 minutes! That’s right no more dreading the days of an hour and a half of Yoga and letting it ruin the experience for you all together. With that being said I want to tell you some more about X2 Yoga and also give you my update on how I handled the new yoga and what I thought of it.     X2 Total Body

    X2 Total BodyX2 Total Body is DONE!!!! I just finished day 4 of my P90X2 Challenge and let me tell you this it was awesome! X2 Total Body was the first workout that I have done since P90X that actually had weights involved. It really reminded me of how much I missed lifting weights and how good it can make you feel once your done.  Having your muscles feel pumped up is a feeling that I had forgotten about, but once I finished X2 Total Body that feeling was restored.  This workout is perfectly incorporated into the P90X2 routine. I wanted to give you a little more details on this workout and let you know what it is all about. I’ll also let you know how I handled it and what I did well with as well as struggled with.     P90X2 Plyocide Review

    PlyocideP90X2 Plyocide is done!!! I just completed day 2 of my P90X2 challenge and let me tell you I think I found my new arch nemesis workout. P90X2 Plyocide and I did not get along well today. I had some thoughts going into this workout today that it would be similar to P90X Plyometrics, but Tony made sure to nip that notion in the butt right from the get go.
