P90X vs. P90X2 Frequently Asked Questions
Moving right along guys I want to hit some of the most frequently asked questions concerning P90X vs. P90X2.
1. Should I start with P90X or P90X2?
If you have never done any of the Team Beachbody workout programs, you are a beginner, or you just haven’t worked out in a really long time then I would recommend that you start with P90X. P90X2 is a really intense program that is supposed to be the next installment or level of P90X. So if you are just starting out then I would go with P90X.
2. What about if I have done Insanity could I do P90X2?
If you can handle the intensity of Insanity then you should be ok to start P90X2. Honestly if you made it through an entire round of Insanity than in my opinion you should be capable of handling any of the workouts that Team Beachbody can throw at you.
3. How many rounds of P90X should I do before I do P90X2?
This one is entirely up to you. If you feel like you have mastered P90X and reached a plateau then by all means move on to P90X2. As long as you feel like you have reached a point in your fitness where you feel like you can turn up the intensity, you should be ok.
4. Is one better than the other?
well since P90X2 really builds off of the original P90X I think it is unfair to say that one program is better than other. Each program between P90X vs. P90X2 has its own separate goals so to say that one is better the other would not be in accurate statement, in my opinion of course.

I really enjoyed P90X 2, challenging and didn’t “see it” till later but really did strengthen my core. :)
That is what I am hoping for as well, I really want a strong core to support the rest of my body!
I knew they were different but I didn’t realize they had different goals. I’ve seen some of the moves in P90X2 and all I can say is WOW!!
Well I can’t wait to do them! I am excited to show you what P90X2 is all about and give you all the details!
I've heard that P0X2 is a killer workout. I guess I'll do the P90X first though, like is suggested here. Thanks for the great advice.
No problem! Glad you found this helpful!
Great post and comparison. I’m just starting P90X and did my second week of Yoga today which is why I LOVE your “awesome” comment next to the fact that Yoga for P90X2 is only 60 mins. vs. 90 mins. for P90X. 90 minutes is a lot of yoga at one time. Thanks for the good info – much appreciated!!
I am super excited about P90X2 Yoga, P90X Yoga was so depressing to look forward to because of how long it took haha!
Great info and I love the chart! P90x2 is lots of balance and core strength. I like some of the slightly shorter workouts, yet still intense.
That is what I am looking forward to as well Risa, glad you like my chart too haha
I love P90X2. I got incredible results with it. I am now on my third go around and can finally do all the exercises except for four medicine ball push-ups and the levers. Excellent comparison.
Thanks Darren I can’t wait to start! I am just waiting for my medicine balls to get here and I’ll be good to go!
Thanks! I was looking for something like this before I ordered P90X2 for my teen! He loves it. I just showed him the video.
Yea it is certainly a great comparison video, I am curious to see how much more intense P90X2 is to P90X!
Thanks for sharing! Sandy
