5 Tips to Keep Your Workout Motivation
Workout motivation is a huge contributor to why most people will never succeed in their fitness journey. Many people set out with the best intentions to get into shape. They get excited, they start working out 100%. Then as the weeks or even days go by they start to workout less, maybe give it 50% until they fall right back into their normal routine. Does this sound like you? If it does or you just want some help with workout motivation in general than I am going to give you 5 tips to help keep you on track for your fitness journey.
Workout Motivation 101
Workout Motivation Tip#1: Find your Why
The first thing you really need to do is to sit down and ask yourself why are you working out? Why do you want to get into shape? Make sure that you are doing whatever your goal is for you and nobody else. So many people work out because they think other people expect them too or someone tells them they should. The only person who should be deciding what you are doing is you. Once you find out your reason of why you want to workout find a place to write this down and read it daily. Your mindset is everything and as far as workout motivation goes the more positive you are towards it the more likely you are to succeed.
Workout Motivation Tip#2: Establish a Foundation
If you are about to embark on a new fitness journey then it is crucial that you establish a foundation. What I mean by this is setting the starting point for where your journey begins. In order to know how much you have achieved through your workouts you have to know where you came from. So how do you do this you say? Start off by taking before pictures of yourself. Make sure you take plenty of different pictures of what you look like before you begin from different angles. This will give added workout motivation to know if you stick with it you will never look like this again. Record your reps on paper when you are working out. This will help you keep track throughout your journey and allow you to see your progression over the weeks. Finally take your before measurements. Numbers don’t lie. Take the body measurements that matter most to you and take monthly measurements to see how you progress through the months. A great place for workout motivation and establishing your foundation is through signing up for a free Beachbody account. You’ll have your own profile where you can post all your measurements and pictures for you to keep track of.
Workout Motivation Tip#3: Form Workout Habits
The best subconscious way that I personally have learned for my workout motivation is forming my own workout habits. I know at this point you’re probably asking “Well that is the point of the motivation Brett, to help form a workout habit”. Let me explain. What I mean by this is to start forming a daily routine that you don’t alter to the point of where it becomes like brushing your teeth. You don’t think about brushing your teeth (Most of you lol) you just do it. To the best of your abilities find a time to workout everyday and stick to it. Doesn’t matter when just try and keep it consistent. If your not a morning person like me then don’t do it in the morning because you won’t get up. I workout when I get home from work. This may be difficult at first, but after about a month this will become workout motivation subconsciously because it won’t be a chore to you anymore, it’ll be a habit.
Workout Motivation Tip#4: Hold Yourself Accountable
Another piece of great workout motivation is to use tools to hold yourself accountable. This is a great way to keep you up beat and positive about your workouts. Join a fitness community to share your progress with. A great and free community is Team Beachbody where there are thousands of other people just like you holding themselves accountable. This is a great place to go for support and to find others doing similar workouts as yourself. They also have a great online gym where you can log in your workouts everyday, invite friends and workout buddies to join you in your workouts, and even be eligible to win free prizes just for holding yourself accountable for your workouts. Now if free prizes isn’t enough workout motivation I don’t know what is. All you have to do is sign up for a free Beachbody account and all this access is yours!
Workout Motivation Tip#5: Find a Mentor or Coach
This may seem a little easier said then done, but finding a mentor or coach will really help you stay positive and motivated. By having someone to help guide you with advice, tips, and support through your workouts you are much more likely to succeed. So how do you find a mentor or coach you say?
